PhD in Artistic Production and Heritage Sciences – AFAM I Cycle (XL Cycle 2024-2027)

The AFAM PhD Course in associated form entitled: “Sciences of artistic production and heritage”, I cycle, is offered by the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania, in agreement with the Academies of Fine Arts of Florence, Macerata, Urbino, with the Vincenzo Bellini Music Conservatory of Catania and with the Higher Institute for Artistic Education of Faenza.

With these AFAM institutes, the Academy of Fine Arts of Catania will issue a PhD degree (see Ministerial Decree 470/24, art. 3, paragraph 3).

The Course is divided into three specialized curricula:

  • Curriculum 1: Theatre archives and repertoires: papers / costumes / scenography / stagecraft / repertoires / dramaturgy / contemporary performances
  • Curriculum 2: Visual communication design and public utility
  • Curriculum 3: New contemporary methodologies in visual, performing and applied arts

Pursuant to Ministerial Decree 630/2024, partner companies are: the Municipality of Syracuse, the International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, the Rossini Opera Festival Foundation in Pesaro, the Gaudenzio Battaglia Company in Ragusa and the Ramdom APS Association in Gagliano del Capo (LE).

The Coordinator of the PhD Course is Prof. Vittorio Ugo Vicari.

The Responsible for the Procedure (RUP) is Dr. Alessandro Blancato.
